World Creativity and Innovation Day, 21 April

On 21st of April we’re celebrating The World Creativity and Innovation Day (WCID), as a reminder that industries must act in the context of economic, social, and sustainable development.

The WCID was established by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution since 2017 to raise awareness around the importance of creativity and innovation in problem solving with respect to advancing the United Nations sustainable development goals 2030. (UN, n.d.)

Creativity is a tool to inspire collaboration, empathy, empowerment, and mentorship in the world, encouraging people to develop new ideas to help the world in different areas. According to UNESCO, besides the concept “is open to interpretation from artistic expression to problem-solving”, it is also relevant to focus on the importance of “achieving the Sustainable Development Goals” from all sorts of institutions, while innovation promotes “essential harnessing of the economic potential of nations, and the importance of mass entrepreneurship” creating jobs for women and youth. (UNESCO, 2022)

In the last decade, the world has experimented an increased development of technology driven by green energy and artificial intelligence, which for the World Economic Forum represents the greatest investment opportunity since the industrial revolution. Even more knowing that the next ten years are decisive to back away climate instability.
